Frederick Wilfred London Photos

Frederick Wilfred (1925-2010) was born in Islington. A professional photographer, he specialized in portraiture, for which he won numerous awards. From the late-50s to the mid-60s, he made a series of remarkable photographs of London street life. Collectively, they form a fascinating portrait of a society emerging from the effects of the Second World War. Yet, he exhibited rarely and many of these images have never been seen before. Following Wilfred s death, his son donated 134 of them to the Museum. Fred Wilfred didn t leave much information about the photographs, so if you recognise a location or someone, perhaps even yourself, please email us at fred@museumoflondon.org.uk.
